Basic Meaning: unconditioned state of destruction of defilements through analytical meditation
Senses:
In Yogâcāra 唯識 theory, one of the six unconditioned factors 六無爲; one of the three unconditioned factors 三無爲 in Abhidharma 倶舍. 擇滅 refers to the proper analysis of all dharmas through untainted cognition. When the two hindrances 二障 are eliminated by the wisdom of awakening, they never re-arise (Skt. pratisaṃkhyā-nirodha-saṃskṛta, visaṃyoga; Tib. so sor brtags 'gog pa`i 'dus ma byas kyi chos).
