Basic Meaning: cessation of feeling and perception
Senses:
An expression of the condition of the experience of reality, wherein at the time of entry into the samādhi of the extinction of the manovijñāna 意識 (sixth consciousness) these two important functions are terminated. This occurs in the concentration of extinction 滅盡定. It is also one of the six unconditioned states 六無爲, known as 想受滅無爲 (Skt. saṃjñā-vedita-nirodha, saṃjñā-vedayita-nirodha; Tib. 'du shes dang tshor ba 'gog pa).
