Gereon Kopf


Gereon Kopf received his Ph.D. from Temple University and is presently Assistant Professor for Asian and comparative religion at Luther College. Fellowships from the Japan Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Research have enabled him to conduct research in 1993-4 at Obirin University in Machida, and 2002-4 at the Institute for religion and Culture in Nagoya. Kopf is currently involved in developing a non-dualistic philosophy from the work of Nishida Kitaro and his commentators such as Takahashi Satomi, Tanabe Hajime, and Mutai Risaku. He is also translating essays by Nishida, Mutai, and Yuasa Yasuo. His publications include Beyond Personal Identity and numerous articles on the religious philosophies of Dōgen and Nishida Kitaro.
