William J. Giddings

Currently completing a Ph.D at King's College London, Dept. Theology and Religious Studies. William's thesis focuses on the depiction of the path to awakening as presented in the Daoxing jing 道行經. Rather than a philological or philosophical study, this thesis concerns itself with the real and practical dubieties of the advanced practitioner as discussed in the body text. Relying upon narratological methodologies, the role and function of myth and tale in the expression and development of this discussion is also analysed. In completing this study a full parallel Chinese-English translation of the Daoxing jing has been completed. William has been adding terms to the DDB from this project. [2010/9/15]
